What We Did for Palatine Bank

Before we started the project, we met with Palatine Bank to find out what they wanted out of their marker. We also performed a site survey and took some measurements. Based on their vision and goals, we recommended a reverse lit channel letter sign. They thought that sounded great, and once they approved of the mockups we provided them with, we got down to work.

Each letter is made out of aluminum and painted with car-grade paint with a powder coat to stand up to the harsh Illinois weather. Each letter has a 1/8” thick clear Lexan back so that the LED lighting inside can shine out. We mounted the letters with standoffs so the light could shine off of the building and create the signature halo effect that reverse-lit channel letters are known for. In the end, Palatine Bank was completely satisfied with the work we did.

Types of Channel Letters

Reverse lit channel letters are not the only type of channel letters. You might also consider the following options:

  • Standard Channel Letters – This is the most common type of channel letter. By routing high gauge aluminum and producing smoothly welded edges and deep returns, we create frames in the shape of your company’s font. The faces are made of acrylic, and LED lighting shines through.
  • Open Face Channel Letters – These are essentially the same as the standard letters only the acrylic faces are transparent, so you can see the light source within.
  • Front/Back Lit Channel Letters – These letters have light coming out of the back creating a halo effect as well as light shining through the acrylic faces.
