Great-Quality Brass Plaques Last for Decades

Metal plaques are the types of signs you would put up to commemorate an event for decades. Examples include building dedications, as in this case, substantial donations to a cause, or to memorialize an individual. Cast metal is an excellent option when there is limited lettering you want to feature.

Our shop designed a plaque that features a thin brass border and three-dimensional brass letters for this client. The rest of the plaque is treated with a broad black stipple that adds texture to the display. The combination of the attractive brass color and the black backdrop looks excellent. It is ideally suited for commemorating the opening of the Tinley Park High School Field House and Fitness Center.

Need Brass Plaques for high schools in Tinley Park IL? Cast or Etched Plaques?

Our clients like case metal because it features a subtle background texture and raised letters. This manufacturing technique is suitable for letters, numerals, and graphics. We can design the products with broader edges or even double edges for heightened visual appeal. A client will favor this setup for a donor or commemorative plaque nine times out of ten.

In contrast, an etched plaque uses chemical engraving. We recommend these products when looking for a display featuring intricate graphics or substantial writing in smaller fonts. In this scenario, the letters do not present with a 3D display but instead are recessed and typically filled with paint and finish. These are not the types of plaques you would apply a stipple or other surface treatment to.

As a general rule of thumb, cast plaques are ideal for installations in virtually all settings and or all purposes. Etched plaques are not typically commissioned for an in-ground installation, but they are better for wall-mounted displays. Similarly, consider the cast version if you are thinking of going big. For thin products, etching is the best manufacturing technique.
