Creative Sign Design Focuses Attention on the Brand Story and Makes for an Eye-Catching Display on a Building’s Facade
We worked with the client and received the company’s specs. It is interesting to note that the business has a corporate symbol that hints at a closet with writing that – quite literally – is a little outside the box. We were able to replicate this look by fabricating an open-faced box cabinet.
Next, we placed the LED around the sides and closed this part of the sign. It left the middle free for the installation of the individual lettering. To give the impression that the letters were free-floating, our technicians installed them with pin mounts. Finally, we placed a light source at the bottom of the sign to illuminate the letters from there.
Now, this floating letter sign looks excellent, continues the brand story, and assists customers with wayfinding.
Are You Looking for Innovative Ways to Display Your Corporate Persona on a Façade?
The majority of building signs use channel letters, non-illuminated 3D letters, or a lightbox cabinet. However, contemporary signage making has evolved.
- Built-up letters. This is a type of channel letter that takes the flat-faced product and adds rims, oversized returns, or optical illusions with the help of imprinted vinyl overlays.
- Formed metal letters. Like aluminum-built channel letters, formed metal letters may use copper, brass, stainless steel, or Cort-Ten steel. These products are ideally suited for halo illumination, which we can adjust with the length of the standoffs we use to mount these products.
- Cloud signs. The cloud sign is a combination of box cabinet and channel letter. All the individual letters are there, but they are connected; therefore, the sign has a differentiating outline but installs in one piece. Some clients have had excellent success with combining halo and front illumination by using LEDs in different colors.
